Mark Seymour
Mark Seymour is best known as the lead singer and songwriter of iconic Australian band “Hunters and Collectors”. Formed in 1981, they disbanded in 1998 after hit songs that included “Throw Your Arms Around Me”, “When the River Runs Dry”, “Talking to a Stranger” and the legendary “Holy Grail”. They were considered one of the best live acts in Australia.
While “Holy Grail” was not intended to be about sport, it has been widely used in television broadcasts of AFL matches, especially the AFL Grand Final. Mark has performed the song at several AFL Grand Finals.
In 2005 ”Hunters and Collectors” were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
Mark has had much success in his solo career, winning an ARIA Award in 2001 for “Best Adult Contemporary Album”. In 2011, Mark formed and began recording with a band again; “Mark Seymour & The Undertow”. They have released five albums; including “The Boxer”, which came out in April 2024.
